Volunteer
Volunteering with YPLA lets you make a global impact through language and cultural exchange. By leading discussions, organizing events, or supporting our team, you’ll help foster mutual understanding and connect people across borders. Join us in promoting peace through meaningful conversations. As a volunteer of YPLA, you will be joining our meetings every other week to converse and executive discussions with the English students across the world. You will be handed a bunch of prompt ideas and activities to use during the breakout room section.

Agenda
- Each session will have a certain theme or topic to guide the conversation and help participants practice or focus on vocabulary for a certain area each time.
Every session is ~45 minutes
Attendance: Participants’ attendance will be recorded at the start of each session. If you miss over three unexcused sessions, you will be removed from the participant list. You will have to re-register in order to join back.
Icebreakers: Each session we will complete a group icebreaker activity to start off and help participants get comfortable. The icebreaker will be related to the theme of the session.
Vocabulary: Every session will cover 10-20 new vocabulary related to the theme. We will go over these words along with examples on how to use them so participants can learn them and apply them to daily life.
Breakout rooms: Participants will be put into breakout rooms with others. Participants will be given various prompts or discussion topics related to the session theme which they can use to converse and discuss. Additionally, participants will be given the opportunity to play virtual games such as “20 Questions” or “Would You Rather”
Sharing: After the breakout rooms close, participants have the opportunity to share one thing about their discussion and provide feedback on ways to improve, things that went well, etc.
